The ruby red Rosso di Toscana IGT from Tenuta il Poggione is a classic Tuscan with an intense aroma of red fruits, black cherries and sweet spices such as vanilla and licorice. Delicate hints of violets, brought in by Sangiovese, as well as some blackcurrant and plums from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot refine the bouquet.
The strong, fruity taste of the Toscana Rosso from Il Poggione impresses with beautifully integrated and invigorating fruit acidity, a slight melt on the palate and fine tannins.
Vinification of the Toscana Rosso from Tenuta Il Poggione
This red wine is vinified from Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which grow in the vineyards of Tenuta Il Poggione between 150 and 450 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, the grapes are crushed and fermented in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for two weeks. The pomace cap is repeatedly submerged so that a particularly large amount of aromas are extracted from the grape skins. The must is then matured in large oak barrels of 30 and 50 hl and in 350-liter French oak barriques and finally transferred to the bottle, where the wine matures for some time. The vinification and the combination of the three grape varieties result in a soft, fragrant wine, ideal for every day.
