More information about Tignanello Toscana IGT - Tenuta Tignanello

The barrel-aged Tignanello Toscana from the wine-growing region of Tuscany presents itself in the glass in a bright purple, ruby red. When swirling the wine glass, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. On the nose, this Tenuta Tignanello red wine presents all kinds of blackberries, mulberries, blueberries and blackcurrants. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in small wooden barrels adds further aromas such as dark chocolate, gingerbread spice and vanilla.

On the palate, the Tignanello Toscana from Tenuta Tignanello opens pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully silky, melting, velvety and dense. The finish of this very mature red wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region, Toscana IGT to be precise, is impressive with its exceptional persistence. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the marl and slate-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Tignanello Toscana from Tenuta Tignanello

The starting point for the first-class and wonderfully balanced Tignanello Toscana cuvée from Tenuta Tignanello is Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone, slate and marl soils in Tuscany. The Tignanello Toscana is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Tuscany, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for Tignanello Toscana are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Tignanello Toscana is aged for a further 28 months in barriques and new wood from French and Hungarian oak.

Dining recommendations for the Tignanello Toscana from Tenuta Tignanello

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to spicy curry with lamb, spaghetti with caper and tomato sauce or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
